TetraHydroCannabinol (THC) is the cannabinoid that makes you feel ‘high’. It is one of the most prominent cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. THC interacts with your endocannabinoid system which is made up of 2 receptors; cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2). When THC interacts with your cannabinoid receptors, it can do all sorts of things. It can help mediate inflammatory responses, induce feelings of euphoria and relieve pain.

In general, your CB1 receptors are in your brain (central nervous system) and your CB2 receptors are distributed throughout various parts of your body (peripheral nervous system). This is why cannabis has both physiological and psychoactive effects.

For most users, the right dose of THC makes them feel euphoric and relaxed. In the body, THC can help reduce pain and has anti-inflammatory properties. Consuming THC may also make you feel hungry, or give you the “munchies”.

If you’re new to cannabis, we recommend starting with a 5 – 10 mg dose of THC.
